PMA Parts Market To Reach $800 Million By 2011

AeroStrategy recently updated its forecast of the air transport PMA parts market. Key findings of the forecast, presented at the 9th Annual Gorham PMA Parts Conference, include:

  • Global air transport MRO spending is $40.8 billion in 2006
  • Spending on air transport service parts and materials is projected to increase from $16.0B in 2006 to $20.2B by 2011
  • Current air transport PMA parts penetration is 2.1% and will reach 3.9% by 2011
  • Aggregate competitive PMA sales are projected to increase from $330M to nearly $800M by 2011
  • Pratt and Whitney’s entry into the market will increase customer acceptance of PMA and will change industry dynamics considerably
  • There are three tiers of PMA suppliers; smaller “Tier III” suppliers are likely to get squeezed in the years ahead
